The base of the ring was cast from sterling silver, then wrapped in foil forming many petals, and then metal plated twice: with copper and then with silver. This was a very experimental project, with many insights about combining technologies, and how even 0.01mm can drastically change the whole look of a piece.

Behind the scenes

To create this ring, I experimented with various types of foil, crumpling aluminum foil of different thicknesses and studying the outcome. Later I turned to copper foil, which is even thicker, due to its easiness to work with when it comes to electroforming.
